Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian sends strong message to Elon Musk after $450 billion-worth tech mogul looks for ways to combat obesity in US…
Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has reached out to Elon Musk to share ideas on addressing obesity in the United States. Ohanian’s response followed Musk’s comments on the rising obesity rates highlighted by recent statistics.
Musk, who is now worth $450 billion (per Celebrity Net Worth), is the world’s richest man. His wealth grew by $136 billion in November after SpaceX investors bought $1.25 billion worth of shares. His AI company, xAI, also raised funds, increasing its value to $50 billion.
On November 15, Musk responded to a post on X by Canadian actress Diana Dukic, which claimed that three-quarters of U.S. adults are now obese. Musk, suggesting a solution, stated that making Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) inhibitors affordable for Americans in need could help lower healthcare costs and improve overall health.
GLP-1 inhibitors are medications that help in the control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. These can aid in weight loss by reducing appetite and increasing feelings of fullness.
On December 12, Ohanian replied to Musk’s tweet, tagging American telehealth company “Ro.” He mentioned that Ro recently partnered with Eli Lilly to offer Zepbound, an FDA-approved weight loss drug, directly to consumers for $399. This aims to make the treatment more accessible and affordable through Ro’s platform.
